Book Review: Dad Tired
BOOK REVIEW
DAD TIRED by JERRAD LOPES
By a show of hands, how many of you have not only walked by the Welcome Center in the Commons, but have actually perused the books? Excellent. Then you've likely seen this green gem, Dad Tired. Podcaster, Jerrad Lopes lives in Oregon with his wife and four kids. I have three children and often wonder where my brain went. So I imagine adding one more to the mix would, in fact, resort to the idea of being another kind of tired. And yet, as we know, bowing out of the job is not the option we strive for, nor what our precious children deserve. So what is? It's leaning in to the tired, not running from it. It's talking through, asking for and accepting forgiveness. It's not being consumed by the chaos around us- whether the stress is work-related, amplified by social media influence, or simply stated when things don't work out how we'd like them to. While using practical and humble examples of Jesus, Jerrad reminds his readers of the grace in self required for the long game of parenting. His call is to reach and engage men in leading their families well. I couldn't love their vision and mission more!
Come by the Welcome Center this Sunday and grab your copy and a cup of coffee!
