Book Recommendation: Audacious Generosity
Book Recommendation: Audacious Generosity, by Kevin White
When we think of our highest of highs and lowest of lows, would you consider any high or low points to run parallel with your finances? Do any align with the state of your heart as it pertains to serving? It's no wonder that money is greatly spoken of in scripture. God knew it would be something we wrestle over. But what if we really lived like everything we have is God's anyways? Would it cause you to be more open handed and open minded with, not only finances, but generosity as a whole? If our times is God's, is it really that big of deal to give an hour or two a week back to Him to serve His church?
Like Kevin White, I would agree that most of us want to be generous with what Sierra Bible Church's founding pastor, Mark Levering would say- our Time, Talents and Treasures. So what's holding us back? What stirs the hesitation? Audacious Generosity addresses the pressure we all feel to give and serve and live generously, but instead challenges us to think empowering. How can living generous empower us? Think about those students who went to Hume Lake for the first time. The courage it took them to leave their comfortable homes, technology and normalcy to sleep in wagons or small bunk houses, their space compromised and the food questionable (just kidding, it's not bad for camp food). What was the reward? Coming home with a new found sense of boldness. Courage. Empowered in their ability to trust.
If all we have is God's anyway, what do we have to lose?
