Missions Update: Francis'
It is such a privilege to connect with our global missionaries. The Francis', currently with CRU in Florida (click here for the organization website), would love for your prayers and encouragement. Here's what they said:
Something to thank the Lord for...
Cru students from the University of Oregon put on an outreach called Text4Cookie. Students were invited to text a question about God, life, or spirituality, and then the cookie is delivered along with an answer to their question. Questions included: Will God accept me if I am gay? What is the difference between spirituality and religion in relation to Christianity? Is there an afterlife? How does Jesus feel about transgender kids? What type of positivity and joy does God bring into your life? And will that really help my mental state? -Why does God allow so much suffering? What is a Christian’s role in society? Over 200 gospel conversations took place!
Areas for prayer...
Our Team:
I am currently assembling the strategic plan for the Campus Ministry on behalf of my team. Always a very challenging but rewarding process. Please pray it would all come together in a way that is clear, compelling, God-honoring, and visionary.
Our family:
Barbara and I will be with our daughter, Brooke and her family for Christmas. It has become our tradition: My birthday 12/23; The Lord's birthday 12/25; our grandson Caleb's birthday 12/26. So lots to celebrate! Please pray for a great time catching up, being together, celebrating Christmas, and being with our grandkids is very special. We are very close to Brooke and Lance, they are kindred spirits. Pray that we would be a blessing to them.
Our community:
Our community is really communities because we have different points of connection with different groups of people in different contexts (i.e. our church community, Cru, neighborhood, and of course Orlando where we live). In our neighborhood, I talked with Greg this morning, he was just diagnosed with Parkinson's. It has opened up the opportunity for spiritual conversation, but it's just beginning. Pray that I would have the chance to minister to him and share the gospel with him.
Bless you and Merry Christmas!
Thanks, church!
